Killington Resort's Daily Report

October 1, 2026 7:24 AM

Happy October, Beast fans!

We’re kicking off the new month with some seriously stellar fall colors around the mountain. The trees are showing off from base to summit, and it’s safe to say we’re right in the heart of peak foliage season. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to leaf peep, this is your sign!

Today, temperatures will climb into the low 60s, with a few clouds rolling in throughout the day. Winds will stay light and variable, making for another crisp fall day. As you start filling out your October calendars, book your fall trip now and experience some serious peak foliage on mountain time.

The K-1 Gondola will operate today from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as we continue daily operations through Monday, Oct. 12. As usual, the last cabin heads uphill at 4:30 p.m.

Soar to the summit for your foliage fix and dine at 4,241’ at the Peak Lodge! From 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the grill will be hot and ready to satisfy your appetite. Just looking for a quick snack? Grab-and-go options will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The bar will also be open Friday–Sunday through Oct. 12 for expanded beverage options.

Please note that the gondola will operate for Scenic Gondola Rides only today, Oct. 1, and will remain closed to mountain bikers. Due to snowmaking construction projects across the upper mountain, K-1 Bike Park terrain will be temporarily closed, with a projected reopening on Friday, Oct. 2.

Over in the Bike Park, the Snowshed and Ramshead Express lifts will continue running from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily through Monday, Oct. 12. After Indigenous Peoples’ Day, these two lifts will reopen on weekends only through the rest of October, wrapping up our final fall operations.

For a more flowy ride, swing by our Snowshed pod and check out the latest work from our Trail Crew. The upper section of Step It Up recently received a full refresh, complete with more rollers and reshaped berms. The middle section is closed for additional trail work, but Upper, Lower Stinky, and Off the Top remain open, providing ride lines around the work area. Shout out to our Trail Crew for keeping things fresh as we get deeper into fall!

Even before you Step It Up, there are plenty of beginner-friendly options to get warmed up. Easy Street to Wiggle is a great place for beginners to get their wheels turning, while Roller is open with fresh bridge repairs for a smooth cruise. Looking to build your confidence? Spend some time in the Easy Street Progression Park before taking on some of the bigger features around the mountain.

Over on Ramshead, the Trail Crew has been putting the trail crusher and excavators to work, refreshing large sections of terrain throughout the pod. Lower Sideshow Bob recently received a complete makeover and is open top to bottom with smooth berms and freshly worked dirt. Go check it out while it’s still nice and fresh!

There’s no better way to take in the foliage than from two wheels! Just keep an eye out for temporary trail closures throughout the day as our crews tackle trail work and leaf-blowing operations. Check our Lifts & Trails Status page for the latest updates before heading out.

The Adventure Center is closed today as we continue our Saturday–Sunday-only schedule through Oct. 12, plus Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

If you’re looking to get some swings in alongside some serious fall views, the Golf Course is open and ready for play! Tee times are available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and can be booked online up to one week in advance. The Clubhouse Grill will be open today for post-round bites, while the Pro Shop remains open with grab-and-go food and beverage options available.

Looking to earn your views this foliage season? All hiking trails remain open except for Trail C. Please follow all posted construction and event signage around the K-1 Base Area, and check out our hiking map before heading out.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the Pepsi Mountain Clean-Up is back on Saturday, Oct. 3. Register today for free to help us get the mountain cleaned up before winter arrives—all participants earn a free lunch and entry into a stacked raffle. Thank you for helping us keep the Green Mountains green!

As we start to wrap up another awesome MTB season, we’re celebrating the riders who made it one to remember! All eligible passholders are invited to our Mountain Bike Season Passholder Appreciation Party on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Snowshed Umbrella Bar. Join us for an afternoon of great food, live music, prizes, and good times with the MTB community as we celebrate another season on the mountain!

The following weekend, Harvest Faire returns on Saturday, Oct. 10, featuring family fun including kids’ activities, hayrides, live music from The Loonz, axe throwing (18+), and the crowd-favorite stein-hoisting competition (21+)!

Finally, the countdown is on for the Stifel Killington Cup, returning to Superstar Nov. 27–29 and bringing the fastest women’s alpine racers back to the East. Tickets are on sale now, so secure your spot and get ready to cheer on the world’s best!

Killington Sports at Snowshed is still offering 40% off all mountain bike gear and 50% off select racks. Stock up on helmets, goggles, jerseys, pants, protective gear, and more while the MTB season is still going strong.

Get out there and enjoy the first day of October, Beast fans!
