Reporting Skier Collisions - It's the Law

VERMONT LAW requires any skier or snowboarder involved in a collision with another person that results in injury to provide his/her name and local and permanent address to any other party in the collision and to proceed to a ski area first aid facility and provide the same information to ski area personnel on duty there.

Authorized Equipment

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, only the following equipment is permitted on resort premises. All equipment must have metal edges and bindings. Use of unauthorized items, such as sleds, snow skates, toboggans, tubes, trays, saucers, snow bikes/trikes, and similar items, is strictly prohibited.

Lift Ticket or Pass Required

All guests participating in skiing, snowboarding, or mountain biking must possess a valid lift ticket or season pass, regardless of the type of lift, terrain, or transportation method used to access the mountain. A lift ticket or season pass is required for use of all mountain ski/snowboard/mountain bike trails, slopes, and terrain, including magic carpets, chairlifts, gondolas, surface lifts, and trails.

Lift Ticket and Season Pass Fraudulent Use

The following actions constitute ticket or pass fraud and are strictly prohibited:

• Transfer of Tickets or Passes
  • Sharing your ticket or pass with another person
  • Allowing someone else to use your ticket or pass
  • Selling or reselling your ticket or pass to others
  • Exchanging tickets or passes with friends or family members
• Misrepresentation
  • Providing false age, identity, or eligibility information to obtain discounted rates
  • Purchasing age-restricted tickets (such as youth or senior tickets) when you do not qualify
  • Using someone else's identity or documentation to purchase, use, or validate a ticket or pass

All lift tickets and season passes, including Ikon Pass, are non-transferable and must be used only by the person to whom they were issued. Every guest must have their own valid ticket or pass for all mountain access, including magic carpets and uphill travel.

Violations of this policy will result in one or more of the following: suspension of skiing/riding privileges, monetary fines, permanent loss of access to the resort, and/or legal action.

The resort reserves the right to verify guest identification and ticket validity at any time at their sole discretion.

Cashless Resort

For safety and efficiency Killington is a cashless resort. We’ve upgraded our systems resort-wide to be able to accept Apple, Samsung and Google Pay, as well as continuing to accept all major credit cards, we no longer deal in cash. Reverse ATMs are available for guests who need to convert their currency into a nationally accepted card format. These machines will be located in the Grand Hotel, K-1, and Snowshed base lodge and Pico base lodges.

Smoking

Killington is a smoke-free resort. Smoking and vaping are prohibited in all resort areas, except parking lots.

Riding Lifts While Carrying Children Permitted on Gondolas Only

Adult passengers carrying children in their arms, or in any type of pack, may ride in gondolas but may not ride on chairlifts.

Use of Drones Not Permitted on Killington/Pico Property

The use of drones and/or other unmanned aircraft, collectively referred to as Unmanned Aerial Systems (or “UAS”), at Killington Resort and Pico Mountain is a public and guest safety concern, and where cameras are used, a potential privacy issue. As such, the use of all UAS devices is prohibited at our resorts. The safety and privacy of our employees and guests are of primary importance.

Service Animals

Any disabled guest who is assisted by a service animal shall have access to all public areas of the resort. In the interests of safety, service animals shall not be permitted on ski lifts or gondolas, as there is no means to evacuate them should the lift stop.

Service Animals shall be under the control of their handlers at all times. Unless the handler is unable to do so, or the use of such device interferes with the safe, effective function of the animal’s duties, Service Animals shall be on a harness, leash, bridle, or other types of tether at all times, in public areas. Where this is not possible due to one of the aforementioned conditions the Service Animal shall be under the handler’s control through other means (e.g. voice commands, hand signals).

Resort personnel may ask for the removal of a Service Animal from public areas if the handler is unable to maintain control of the animal, if the animal’s behavior is deemed dangerous, or if the animal is not properly housebroken. Reasonable effort will be taken by the resort to facilitate the disabled guest’s participation in resort activities, in the instance a Service Animal is removed for cause.

If it is not readily obvious that an animal is in the service of a disabled guest, resort personnel may ask the handler: A) if the animal is required because of a disability or is being trained as a Service Animal and B) what service or work the animal is trained to provide. No employee shall ask any questions regarding the nature of the guest’s disability or the extent of their disability.

Power Driven Mobility Devices (opdmd)

Killington / Pico Ski Resort Partners have determined that due to the operational characteristics of the resort business and in the interests of safety for our guests and staff, the use of other power-driven mobility devices by our guests shall not be allowed.

Killington Resort and Pico Mountain’s business is focused on skiing and snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. These are ‘gravity sports,’ often conducted at high speeds, in which guests travel down the mountain on designated routes. Introducing the use of OPDMD into this recreational facility would alter the fundamental characteristic of the resort by allowing privately owned, motorized vehicles to share the trail network, operating against the downhill flow of skiers / snowboarders and mountain bikes.

All company and/or vendor vehicles that operate on the mountain are equipped with safety features in accordance with resort policies; furthermore, all operators of these vehicles have undergone specialized safety training which includes best practices for the operation of a vehicle in the resort environment. Allowing guests to operate OPDMD at the resort without proper safety training or mandated safety features would increase the potential of accidents between our gravity sports participants and the operators of OPDMD.

Killington / Pico Ski Resort Partners offers alternatives for guests with mobility disabilities to enjoy the local environment, including access to scenic gondola rides throughout the summer and fall.

In addition, the resort is willing to provide access to the mountain for disabled guests via a company vehicle and driver, when requested and scheduled at least 72 hours in advance of the guest’s arrival.

Pets at The Resort

Killington Resort is proud to be a pet-friendly resort.

We welcome quiet, non-aggressive pets who are well groomed and up to date on shots and vaccinations.

We also ask that you observe the following resort rules:

• Pets must be on a leash, in a carrier or held and under control at all times.
• Any messes created by your pet need to be cleaned up by the pet owner.
• Pets are not allowed on chair lifts or gondolas.
• No pets are allowed in base lodges, indoor public facilities, outside seating areas or any food venues.
• Pets are not allowed any place where skiing, snowboarding or mountain biking occurs during operating hours.
• Killington Resort reserves the right to ask that a pet be removed for any reason.
• Pets may not be allowed in some event venues on Killington Resort property.
• Pets are not allowed to swim in Snowshed Pond.
• Killington Resort welcomes service animals at any time. Service animals must be under control and on a leash/harness.
• Killington Resort lodging accommodations do not allow pets.
