Uphill Travel

Before you head out, please review the following requirements:

• A current Uphill Travel Pass (reflective armband) and a signed Winter Uphill Travel Express Assumption of Risk form are required for all uphill travelers.
• Uphill New England Multi-Mountain season passes (UNE armband) are also permitted. UNE day pass vouchers can be redeemed at Guest Services.
• A parent or legal guardian must sign the form for anyone 17 and under.
• Children or infants may not be carried in backpacks while traveling uphill.
• Your armband must be worn and visible at all times, during both operating and non-operating hours, and presented to resort personnel upon request.

• Free with a current 2026/27 Killington or Pico season pass. Note: A signed Winter Uphill Travel Express Assumption of Risk form is still required before picking up your armband.
• $62 for Ikon Pass holders and non–Killington/Pico pass holders — valid for the 2026/27 season at both Killington and Pico.
• Armbands are available for pickup at Guest Services during operating hours once your purchase and waiver are complete.
• Uphill Travel Passes are not eligible for refunds, credits or extensions.

Please be prepared to show your confirmation email at pickup.

• Step 3: Click the button at the bottom of the page to complete your Uphill Travel Pass purchase online.
• Step 4: Visit any Guest Services location with your confirmation email to pick up your reflective armband.

Killington/Pico Uphill Travel passes are no longer available.

• Before accessing resort premises, make others aware of your uphill travel plans, including anticipated arrival and departure times.
• Charge your cell phone battery before you go and always travel with your cell phone. BE AWARE THAT ON-MOUNTAIN CELL PHONE SERVICE IS NOT ALWAYS AVAILBLE OR RELIABLE.
• Always use the buddy system. It’s a good idea to travel with a party of at least three or more. If you decide to go alone, be sure to advise someone in advance about your activities.
• Wearing reflective clothing and the use of a bright headlamp is highly recommended if you are on the mountain in low light or when it’s dark. It’s your responsibility to make yourself visible to operations personnel.
• Travel uphill only on designated routes indicated by uphill travel icons located on the side of the trail.
• During non-operating hours, you must descend the mountain on the designated uphill route. For your safety and that of our staff, do not deviate from the designated route.
• Travel on the edge of the trail and don’t stand more than two people side-by-side across the trail.
• Don’t stop in high traffic areas.
• Be alert and yield to all downhill traffic, including skiers and snowboarders.
• Resort and mountain operations run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Stay clear of all mountain operations and equipment, including, but not limited to grooming machines, snowmaking equipment, snowmobiles, and lifts.
• Always yield to all resort personnel, mountain operations equipment, machines and vehicles.
• Stay clear of all snow grooming winch operations. Be alert for warning beacons on vehicles and at winch points at the top of the trail and for equipment and machinery. If you encounter winching operations, stay off the trail. Winch cables may be located underneath the snow surface one moment, then high in the air above the surface the next. Grooming tractors suspended on winch cables may be located thousands of feet away and beyond your line of site. These circumstances can make dangers and hazards hard to see or invisible to, both uphill travelers and equipment operators.
• Be prepared for changes in weather and conditions. Nighttime conditions and weather are usually very different from conditions and weather during the day. Be alert for continually changing weather, visibility, surface conditions and terrain features. Anticipate numerous hazards and dangers including, but not limited to snow, snowmaking mounds, ice, ruts, bumps, sheer drop-offs, bare ground, rocks, roots, stumps, trees, power poles, lift towers, snowmaking equipment, grooming vehicles, snowmobiles, other skiers and riders, and many other natural and man-made objects.
• Pets are not permitted on trails and slopes. Where pets are permitted on resort property, they must be on a leash.
• Carrying children in backpacks while uphill skiing is prohibited.

• During Resort Operating Hours: For first-aid assistance during resort operating hours, report accidents to any ski patroller, Mountain Ambassador or lift operator. You can also stop at first-aid stations at the top of each mountain area, the first level of the Killington Medical Clinic at Killington or the first-aid room located adjacent to Pico Base Lodge at Pico. Dial Ext. 4444 from any in-house phone or call 802-422-1243 from your cell phone to reach Mountain Dispatch to request first-aid assistance.
• During Resort Non-Operating Hours: Ski Patrol is not present and will be unable to provide services to uphill travelers during non-operating hours. DO NOT count on ski-area personnel to be available to assist you. Uphill travelers assume full responsibility for personal safety and any injury, death or damages when traveling on resort premises during non-operating hours. In the event of an emergency during non-operating hours, uphill travelers must call 911. Be aware that on-mountain cell phone service is not always available or reliable.

• If you decide to leave the ski resort premises and go beyond the ski-area boundary, be aware that Killington and Pico assume no responsibility for safety of, or injury, death or damages to skiers or riders. Backcountry areas beyond the ski-area boundary are not maintained or checked by ski area personnel.
• Vermont Law provides that you are liable for all expenses of search and rescue if you ski beyond the ski-area boundary and a search is conducted.
• Check the Killington and Pico Trail Guides to see ski-area boundaries shown by dotted yellow lines bordering each map.

The Vermont Department of Forest, Parks and Recreation and the National Forest Service acknowledge that ski resort operators have the ability to decide and define how ski trails and facilities can be operated, accessed and utilized. This provides Killington and Pico authority over land use at both locations. Killington Resort leases land at Killington from the State of Vermont, and land at Pico is privately owned.

Uphill travel routes can be accessed from designated resort parking areas at Killington and Pico. Trail information will be posted on sign plazas located in these parking areas. Park in the following designated locations:

• Killington Resort – Far right as you enter the Ramshead parking lot near the Uphill Travel sign plaza.
• Pico Mountain – Far left as you enter the parking lot, adjacent to the Little Pico Triple chairlift near the Uphill Travel sign plaza.
• Sunrise Mountain – at the base of Sunrise Village Triple

• From the Ramshead Base Lodge proceed up Header, along the looker’s right side of the trail.
• Continue straight up Header, on the looker’s right (skier’s left), until you arrive at the top of Ramshead Express chairlift.
• From the top of Ramshead Express chairlift, you may continue your uphill travel to the top of Snowdon Mountain by following the uphill travel icons up Frolic trail to the top of Snowdon Six chairlift.

• From the Ramshead Base Lodge, proceed up the looker’s right side of Easy Street trail.
• Follow Easy Street to its intersection with Header trail. Turn right, up Header / Easy Street. These two trails run together for approximately 100 yards.
• Turn right up Easy Street and follow it past the base of Swirl trail.
• Continue up Easy Street, crossing Header trail to the intersection with Caper.
• From Caper, bear right and follow Easy Street to the top of Ramshead Express chairlift.

• From the Snowshed Base Lodge, proceed up the looker’s right of Snowshed Slope.
• Continue straight up Snowshed Slope until arriving at the top of Snowshed Double chairlift
• Please note: Uphill travel is not allowed beyond the top of Snowshed Slope

• From the bottom of Sunrise Mountain proceed up Sun Dog trail to the intersection with Bear Cub trail
• Turn left up Bear Cub trail and follow it to Ridgeview trail.
• Bear right up Ridgeview to the top of Bear Mountain

• From the base of the Little Pico Triple chairlift, proceed up the looker’s left side of Pike trail.
• Follow Pike past the bottom of the Summit Express Quad chairlift.
• At tower 7 of the Summit Express Quad, bear left up 49er trail and follow to the top of Pico Mountain.

• From the base of Knome’s Knoll Triple chairlift, begin up the looker’s left of Swinger trail
• Follow Swinger trail as it crosses under the Golden Express and continue to the intersection with Fool’s Gold.
• Turn right and proceed up the looker’s left of Fool’s Gold trail to the top of Golden Express Quad

• From the base of the Little Pico Triple chairlift, proceed up the looker’s left side of Lower Pike trail.
• Bear left up C-Slope trail and continue up C-Slope until it intersects with Bushwacker trail.
• Turn left up Bushwacker trail for approximately 30 yards and then turn right up Summit Glade trail.
• Continue up Summit Glade to 49er trail.
• Follow 49er trail to the summit of Pico Mountain.

• From the Ramshead Base Lodge, proceed up Header, along the looker’s right side of the trail.
• Follow Header to its intersection with Easy Street trail, just uphill of tower eleven of Ramshead Express.
• Turn right up Easy Street and follow it to the base of Swirl trail.
• Turn hard right and proceed downhill along the marked route for approximately 75 yards.
• Turn left and follow the Interconnect uphill until it joins the Pico Mountain Uphill Travel Route on 49er trail.
