Killington Resort's Daily Report
It’s finally the weekend, Beast fans!
We’re back with full-blown fall adventure from 4241’ all the way down to the Killington Golf Course. Peak foliage is fading fast, and this is the final weekend for a few of our premier summer activities, so this is the time to head up to The Beast. Keep reading for the scoop on what’s in store over the long holiday weekend ahead.
First off, we’re starting the weekend with beautiful fall weather and sunshine. We’re expecting temps in the upper-30s as the October sun rises and fills the mountains with golden light, but it’ll warm up into the low-50s by the early afternoon. A few passing clouds may appear later in the day with moderate winds out of the northwest, making it feel like those flakes are just around the corner. It’ll feel a bit chillier at the summit, so be sure to bring an extra layer or two.
This is it! The K-1 Gondola is spinning daily for one final fall weekend through October 12. Scenic Gondola Rides and Bike Park laps off K-1 are available from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the last cabin heading uphill at 4:30 p.m. The Peak Lodge is open with grab-and-go food and drink options, and the grill is back open to keep you fueled for your fall adventures.
In the rest of the Bike Park, Ramshead and Snowshed are operating daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through October 12. After Indigenous Peoples’ Day, both lifts will shift to Friday–Sunday operations through October 18, with just Snowshed operating for our final scheduled Bike Park weekend on October 23–25.
The Bike Park is riding great, and there’s a little something for every rider! For a more flowy ride, swing by our Snowshed pod and check out the latest work from our Trail Crew. The upper section of Step It Up recently received a full refresh, complete with reshaped berms and more rollers. The middle section remains closed for additional trail work, but Upper Stinky, Lower Stinky, and Off the Top remain open, providing ride lines around the work area.
Even if you’re just looking to get comfortable with two wheels beneath you, there are plenty of beginner-friendly options to get warmed up. Easy Street to Wiggle is a great place to get your wheels turning, while Roller is open with fresh bridge repairs for a smooth cruise. Plus, you can spend some time in the Easy Street Progression Park, located right in our Snowshed Base Area, before taking on some of the bigger features around the mountain. Our Mountain Bike Lessons are a great option if you’re looking to find your flow on the trails.
Over at Ramshead, the Trail Crew has also moved some serious dirt. Lower Sideshow Bob recently received a complete makeover and is open top to bottom with smooth berms. Blue Magic and Black Magic are your premier freeride options. There’s nothing like getting some serious airtime and flying through the foliage. As always, be sure to pre-ride and re-ride before sending it off of our biggest features over there.
Up on the K-1 Gondola, classics like Cable Trail, Snake Bite, and The Beast are all offering a fun challenge with classic technical ride lines from the peak. Please note that Scarecrow, Low Rider, and Upper and Lower Steel Panther may temporarily close for continued work on the new Snowdon Quad, but they are at least open for now as we wrap up laps from the peak.
Trails may temporarily close during the day as trail work and leaf-blowing operations take place, so be sure to check our Lifts & Trails Status page for the latest updates before heading out.
In other news, the Adventure Center is open for one final fall weekend, Saturday through Monday, October 10–12. Make the most of these last fall adventures before we wrap up for the season!
Over at the Golf Course, tee times can still be booked online through the course’s final day on Monday, October 12. The course and Clubhouse Grill are back open. Tee times are limited, but the Clubhouse Grill is a great spot to chill and grab a meal even if you are just passing by.
All of our hiking trails remain open except for Trail C. Please follow all posted construction and event signage around the K-1 Base Area and check out our hiking map before heading out.
Our annual Harvest Faire returns tomorrow, Saturday, October 10, bringing along family fun, including kids’ activities, hayrides, live music from The Loonz, axe throwing (18+), and the crowd-favorite stein-hoisting competition (21+). Everything listed here is free, so gather your crew and join us for a classic autumn weekend!
It’s also the KSC Monster Ski and Bike Sale & Swap this weekend, so stop by the Ramshead Lodge for deals on new and used ski and snowboard equipment, along with a great selection of street and mountain bikes. Many local shops from Killington will be participating! Proceeds of this event will go to support the KSC Scholarship Fund.
Plus, Rocky Mountain Slayer rental bikes are now available for $1,650 + tax in sizes S–XL. Plus, bike purchasers get 25% off select ski & snowboard demos. Stop by Snowshed Lodge to shop.
Looking to score even more deals before winter arrives? Shop the savings across the mountain this weekend! Snowshed is offering 40% off all bike items and 50% off select racks. If you’re coming up Route 4, be sure to stop by K-1 Sports for some stellar deals during our Outside Courtyard Sale. They’re open Friday–Sunday, so stop by and snag the best deals before the snow starts flying!
Finally, the countdown is on for the Stifel Killington Cup, returning to Superstar November 27–29 and bringing the fastest women’s alpine racers back to the East. Tickets are on sale now, so secure your spot and get ready to cheer on the world’s best!
Come soak up these foliage views, get in a few more laps, and enjoy the final stretch of fall operations.
Cheers!
