Why Killington?

Nine Reasons to Choose Killington

The Most Terrain in Eastern North America

We've earned our nickname "The Beast of The East" as the biggest resort in the East, with a variety of terrain covering six unique peaks. From great learning facilities to the longest, steepest mogul runs around, Killington offers something for everyone.

The Highest Lift-Served Peak in Vermont

Ride the K-1 Express Gondola to the summit of Killington Peak, the highest lift-served peak in Vermont. At 4,241 feet, you'll enjoy sweeping views of the Green Mountains while accessing some of the region's most iconic terrain, from intermediate cruisers to legendary expert runs.

Longest Season in the East

We're proud to boast the longest season in the East, with skiing and riding often stretching into June. But there really is no offseason at Killington. When the snow melts, we shift into a summer playground with mountain biking, golf, and so much more.

A Reliable Lift Network in Tough Weather

High winds don't have to end your ski day. Killington's extensive fixed-grip lift network provides alternate access across the resort when some detachable lifts are delayed by wind or deicing. The result is more open terrain, more route options, and the most dependable mountain experiences in the East.

Largest Snowgun Fleet in Eastern North America

Killington is home to the largest snowgun fleet in Eastern North America, with approximately 2,600 snowguns, nearly 100 miles of snowmaking pipe, and the ability to produce up to 9 million gallons of snowmaking water per day under ideal conditions. That investment helps us open terrain earlier, maintain better conditions throughout the season, and stay open longer than any other resort in Eastern North America.

Extensive Terrain Parks Network

Our Killington Parks are a network of top tier terrain parks that offer something for every skier and rider from mellow boxes in Easy Street to large freestyle features in Dream Maker. Our industry leading Park Crew is dedicated to creating the best terrain parks in the East all season long.

Premier Lodges and Dining

Refuel at K-1 Lodge, one of the premier mountain lodges on the East Coast. Take in summit views at Peak Lodge while enjoying farm-fresh cuisine, or book a slopeside meal in the Ledgewood Yurt. For something different, try bold, island-inspired dishes at Jerk Jamaican Mountain Grill or Vermont-inspired cuisine at Preston's Restaurant.

A Mountain Town with Nightlife

The experience doesn’t end when the lifts stop spinning. From legendary après-ski and nightlife to local dining at Preston’s Restaurant, exciting events, and a welcoming community, Killington offers one of the most vibrant mountain town experiences in the East.

Continually Investing in the Mountain Experience

Under independent local ownership, Killington has committed more than $80 million in capital improvements over three years, including the new Superstar Six and Snowdon Quad chairlifts, expanded snowmaking infrastructure, Skyeship Gondola upgrades, a rebuilt Ledgewood Yurt, and improvements across the resort.

With an additional $200 million planned for infrastructure investments over the next decade, including new lifts, lodges, and snowmaking upgrades, we're continuing to enhance the guest experience and strengthen Killington's position as the premier year-round mountain resort in the Northeast.

Two Mountains, One Destination

When you think about Killington, don’t forget about Pico Mountain. Located just 15 minutes away, Pico offers classic New England terrain, a relaxed atmosphere and fewer crowds.

Ikon Pass holders can ski both Killington and Pico on the same day while using only one shared access day. Killington lift tickets and most Killington season passes are also valid at Pico, giving guests two distinct mountain experiences with one convenient access product.

A Better-Balanced Ikon Pass Experience

Killington and Pico Mountain are the only Ikon Pass destinations in Vermont that limit passholder access to a set number of days. This helps manage visitation and reduce crowding throughout the season, resulting in shorter lift lines, less congestion on trails and in lodges and parking areas, and a better overall mountain experience. Ikon Pass holders still have plenty of opportunities to experience The Beast.
